Another quake jolts northern Japan
TOKYO (AFP) Aug 12, 2003
An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale shook a northern Japan region on Tuesday that has been hit by powerful earthquakes recently, the meteorological agency said.

There was no danger of tsunami tidal waves, the agency said.

The quake took place at 9:28 am (0028 GMT), with the focus located about 10 kilometers (six miles) underground in northern Miyagi Prefecture, some 350 kilometres (220 miles) north of Tokyo.

There were no reports of injuries or damage.

In July, the Miyagi region was hit by powerful earthquakes including one registering 6.2 on the Richter scale. No lives were lost in the temblors.
