Heavy snowfall forces Prague airport to close
PRAGUE (AFP) Jan 05, 2004
Heavy snowfall forced the Czech capital Prague's airport to close for six hours Monday, causing delays and the cancellation of four flights.

"We were forced to cancel four flights during the night," said Anna Kovarikova, a spokeswoman for the Czech Airport Administration.

Flights in and out of the airport were halted from 0200 to 0800 GMT, with a Lufthansa flight from the western German city of Duesseldorf the first to land after the runways were cleared.

Further delays during the day were possible, said Kovarikova.

Heavy snowfall created difficult road conditions throughout much of the central European country.
