Earthquake hits parts of Greece and Albania; no reports of casualties

An earthquake measuring 5.2 points on the open-ended Richter scale hit part of the border region between Greece and Albania early on Wednesday, a French seismological institute said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from officials in Greece.

The earthquake occurred at 4:32 am (0132 GMT) and had its epicentre at a latitude of 40.84 degrees north and a longitude of 20.30 degrees east, said the institute, based in the eastern French city of Strasbourg.

The epicentre is around 70 kilometres (45 miles) west of the town of Florina in northwest Greece.
