Quake shakes southeast Iran
TEHRAN (AFP) Apr 07, 2004
An earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale on Wednesday shook the region of Bam, southeastern Iran, where a powerful quake killed thousands of people and practically destroyed the town last December 26, the official news agency IRNA said.

There was no immediate word of casualties or damage from the tremor, which struck at 3:25 am (22:55 GMT).

Late last month Iranian authorities revised to 26,271 the number of dead from the December quake, which Bam Governor Ali Shafii had earlier said totalled 43,000.
