Lightning kills two in northern Ethiopia

Two members of the same family were killed by lighting during heavy storms in northern Ethiopia's Amahara state at the weekend, official media reported Tuesday.

The two were killed when lightning struck their shelter on Sunday in Tehulderie Woreda sub-district in Amahara state, Ethiopian News Agencysaid, citing local administrator Gebre-Haset Aregawi.

A third person was injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

On Monday, heavy rains destroyed at least 100 homes and offices in central Tigray zone, also in northern Ethiopia, ENA added.
