Dutch collect more than 112 million euros for Asian tsunami victims
A Dutch telethon on Thursday collected tens of millions of euros (dollars) in aid for the victims of the Asian tsunami disaster, bringing the total amount of private funds pledged to a record 112.14 million euros (148 million dollars), according to figures published late Thursday.
The campaign, backed up by TV advertisements, was organized by a broad range of groups including the Dutch Red Cross, UNICEF and Doctors without Borders.
