One man dead, as Northern Ireland storm blows truck off bridge
LONDON (AFP) Jan 11, 2005
Gale-force winds blew a heavyweight truck off a bridge Tuesday in Northern Ireland, killing the driver, police said.

The bridge crossing the river Foyle in Londonderry, the province's second-largest city, was closed after the accident.

A female driver was also seriously injured on another Londonderry bridge when her truck collided with a car.

More than 5,000 homes remained without electricity late on Tuesday with the storm, which has also hit the Republic of Ireland, expected to continue unabated through the night.
