Mexico climate summit set for early December in Cancun Mexico will host the next UN summit seeking a binding deal on climate change from November 29 to December 10 in the beach resort of Cancun, the environment ministry confirmed Monday. Mexican President Felipe Calderon in January named the tourist resort on the southeast Yucatan peninsula for the meeting, but did not give dates. The resort is a popular summit location, and the choice was made to ensure enough hotel capacity and sufficient security measures, said ministry communications director Fernando Morales Aguilar. Some climate campaigners, including former US vice president Al Gore, had called for an earlier meeting, in July, following on from last December's Copenhagen summit at which no new global agreement was reached.
