Spanish heatwave claims victim number seven
MADRID (AFP) Jul 04, 2004
A 50-year-old man died of heat-stroke in a hospital in Grenada, officials said Sunday, becoming the seventh victim of the heatwave that has gripped the southern part of the country for more than a week.

Health officials said a dozen adults and children were hospitalized because of heat exhaustion.

However, a health alert was reduced to its minimum level as temperatures, which have topped 40 degrees Celsius (105 degrees Fahrenheit) began to fall.

Exceptionally hot weather killed at least 141 people in Spain last year.
