![]() COPENHAGEN (AFP) Aug 31, 2004 Vestas Wind Systems, the world's leading producer of wind turbines, said Tuesday it has won an Australian contract for 54 generators from a three-company consortium named Walkaway Wind Power. Under the terms of a 95-million-euro (115-million-US-dollar) deal, Vestas is to install 1.65 megawatt generators near the western town of Geraldton by November 2005, providing total capacity of just under 90 megawatts of electricity. Walkaway Wind Power is a joint venture of Renewable Power Ventures, Babcock and Brown, and National Power and Carbon Solutions, a Vestas statement said.
