![]() VATICAN CITY (AFP) Sep 27, 2004 Pope John Paul II has donated 100,000 dollars (82,000 euros) to the victims of hurricane Jeanne in Haiti, the Vatican announced Monday. The sum was sent by the Vatican's Pontifical Council Cor Unum, or One Heart, and is to be disbursed by Haiti's bishops and the Catholic humanitarian organization, Caritas. The money is earmarked to buy drinking water, food and medicine for the victims of Hurricane Jeanne, which ravaged Haiti on September 18 killing nearly 2,000 people. The northward moving storm wreaked havoc in parts of Florida on Saturday and Sunday. All rights reserved. 2005 Agence France-Presse.
