Vestas of Denmark sells 84 wind turbines to Oklahoma power project
COPENHAGEN (AFP) Mar 03, 2005
Vestas Wind Systems, the world's leading producer of wind turbines, said Thursday it would provide 84 of its V80 1.8-megawatt wind turbines for a project in the US oil state of Oklahoma.

The Blue Canyon II wind power project is a 151-megawatt expansion to the existing Blue Canyon Wind Farm, which was co-developed by Zilkha Renewable Energy of Texas and Kansas-based Kirmart Corp.

On Monday, the Danish group obtained a contract for 67 V80 turbines for a farm in Texas, another major US oil-producing state.

Delivery of the wind turbines to Oklahoma was to begin in mid-2005, and their commissioning is set for December.

The contract also contained a five-year maintenance agreement.

No value was disclosed for the deal but Vestas said the order would not affect its outlook for 2005.

Vestas shares gained 4.5 percent to 81 kroner in midday trade on the Copenhagen stock exchange, while the KFX index of leading shares was 0.61 percent higher overall.
