The storm will come just days after Typhoon Hagupit -- the 14th typhoon this year -- swept through south China this week, killing at least 17 people, according to the official Xinhua news agency.
Jangmi, which is due to hit Taiwan before it slams into Fujian, had developed into a super-strong typhoon by Saturday morning, according to the Fujian meteorological centre.
It was packing winds of 216 kilometres (134 miles) an hour and was moving northwest at the speed of 20 kilometres an hour, the centre said in a statement on its website.
