Hurricane Ida weakened as it moved across the Gulf of Mexico early Monday and was downgraded to a category one storm, the US National Hurricane Center said.The storm's maximum winds decreased to 90 miles (150 kilometers) an hour as it crawled northwest, toward the US Gulf coast, the center said.
