Lorena weakens to tropical storm off Mexico
Mexico City, Sept 5 (AFP) Sep 05, 2025
Hurricane Lorena was downgraded to a tropical storm on Thursday as it swung northwest, away from Mexico's northern Pacific coast, local authorities said.

The US National Hurricane Center said the storm was located 255 kilometers (155 miles) off Cabo San Lazaro, with sustained winds of 85 km/h (53 mph).

It added that it was expected to move "generally parallel to the west coast of the Baja California Peninsula as it weakens on Friday."

The Mexican Meteorological Service canceled tropical storm wind warnings in the Pacific.
