Two people died in southern Turkish town of Antakya overnight when torrential rain caused a house and a road to collapse, Anadolu state news agency reported Thursday. One person died when a house collapsed, while two others were pulled from the rubble alive, the agency said.
Another person died inside his car when a section of road collapsed in the rain, causing his vehicle to skid off the road into a nearby streambed, it added.
Images published by local media showed streets engulfed in fast-flowing muddy water, leaving many cars partially submerged.
The town, the site of the ancient city of Antioch, was badly hit by the February 2023 earthquake that left more than 53,500 people dead, official figures show.
