The storm is forecast to bring torrential rains particularly to the east and southeast parts of the island.
"Foremost, ships sailing on the Bashi Channel should heighten their vigilance," a CWB official said, predicting the storm would hit the Luzon island of the Philippines on Tuesday.
At 8:00 pm (1200 GMT), the eye of the storm was located at 930 kilometers (558 miles) southeast of Eranpi, on the southernmost tip of the island, and moving northwest at an hourly speed of 25 kilometers.
