Heatwave unearths German missing since 1989
WERTHEIM, Germany (AFP) Aug 11, 2003
The heatwave baking Germany has revealed the watery final whereabouts of a man reported missing 14 years ago, police said Monday.

The low level of the Main river in southwest Germany caused by the lack of rain exposed a car containing the remains of a 61-year-old man who had not been seen since 1989, the year the Berlin Wall came down.

It was uncovered at a ferry crossing near the town of Wertheim.

A pathologist was called in to formally identify the remains.
