Fox replaces his environment, energy ministers: official
MEXICO CITY (AFP) Sep 02, 2003
Mexican President Vicente Fox is to replace Environment Secretary Victory Lichtinger and Energy Minister Ernesto Martens, as well as other top government officials, his spokesman said Tuesday.

The announcement came after the Fox government late Monday spelled out a number of shortcomings in the administration.

Fox's new environment secretary will be Alberto Cardenas Jimenez, previously director general of the National Forestry Commission, the spokesman, Alfonso Durazo said.

The new energy minister will be Felipe Calderon Hinojosa, former president of the National Action Party (PAN) and current head of the National Bank of Works and Services (Banobras), Durazo told reporters.

"With these changes the president give a fresh boost to significant areas of public administration," Durazo said.
