Quake measuring 4.9 on Richter scale jolts southern Iran
TEHRAN (AFP) Oct 24, 2003 A quake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale jolted southern Iran on Friday, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties, state television reported.
The quake hit an area about 240 kilometers (150 miles) southeast of the city of Shiraz in Fars province at 9:28 am (0558 GMT). The report said the epicentre was near the towns of Zahrindasht, also known as Haji Abad, and Larestan.
