Tremor shakes northern Greece
ATHENS (AFP) Oct 29, 2003
An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale shook the northern Greek city of Salonika late Wednesday without causing any damage, officials said.

The tremor was felt throughout Greece's second-largest city, with many inhabitants rushing out into the streets, worried that buildings might collapse, local police said.

The epicenter of the earthquake was 16 kilometers (10 miles) west of Salonika, the Athens observatory said. A 6.8-magnitude quake which struck the city in 1978 killed 20 people.
