KATHMANDU (AFP) Dec 19, 2003
A mild earthquake shook a tea-growing region in northeastern Nepal on Friday but no casualties or damage were reported, an official said.

The quake in Ilam district, some 420 kilometers (260 miles) northeast of the kingdom's capital, Kathmandu, measured 4.2 on the Richter scale, the official at the earthquake monitoring centre said.

The epicentre was located around Maipokhari, an important Hindu pilgrimage site.
