Jordanian king orders aid sent to quake-stricken Iran
AMMAN (AFP) Dec 26, 2003
Jordanian King Abdullah II sent his condolences to Iranian President Mohammad Khatami following a massive earthquake that killed as many as 6,000 people, and ordered that aid be sent to the country.

"The king has ordered that urgent aid be sent to the Islamic Republic of Iran," the official Petra news agency said, adding that, in a telegram, the king had assured Khatami of "Jordan's support for the victims."

Abdel Salam al-Abadi, secretary general of Jordan's relief association, was quoted as saying he would cooordinate with the Iranian embassy to send "foodstuffs, tents, blankets and medicines."
