Syria sends 40 tonnes of aid to victims of Iran quake

Syria has dispatched 40 tonnes of aid for the victims of the devastating earthquake in southeastern Iran that killed tens of thousands of people, Syria's health minister said in remarks published Sunday.

The aid package is mainly made up of medicines, Iyad Shatti said.

Hope was fading fast Sunday of finding many more survivors in the rubble of Bam, two days after the earthquake destroyed 70 percent of the town, inflicting a death toll of more than 20,000 people.
