Taiwan donates 30 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Iran
TAIPEI (AFP) Jan 07, 2004
Taiwan on Wednesday sent a plane packed with humanitarian aid to earthquake-stricken Iran, the island's leading air carrier said.

The 30 tonnes of goods -- blankets, jackets, clothes and socks donated by domestic businesses -- was flown by a China Airlines Boeing 747-400 cargo aircraft.

Taiwan previously sent two rescue teams, one formed by the private Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation, to Iran after the city of Bam was hit by a massive earthquake on December 26 that killed up to 35,000 people.
