Moderate earthquake rattles Panama and Costa Rica
SAN JOSE (AFP) Jan 07, 2004
A pre-dawn earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale shook the border area between Panama and Costa Rica early Wednesday, with no reports of damage or victims, authorities said here.

The quake is an aftershock of an earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale that shook the same area early December 25, killing a girl, injuring dozens and damaging homes and buildings.

The epicenter of Wednesday's quake was located off Panama's Pacific Ocean port of Armuelles, Costa Rica's Seismological and Vulcanological Observatory reported.
