TAIPEI (AFP) Jan 25, 2004
An undersea earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale jolted southeastern Taiwan Sunday, seismologists said.

But there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties as Taiwan people celebrated the Lunar New Year.

The tremor hit at 11:44 am (0344 GMT), originating 19.3 kilometers below the sea level, the Seismology Center said.
