Mild tremor jolts Bangladesh port city, no casualty reports
DHAKA (AFP) Jan 28, 2004
A mild earthquake jolted Bangladesh's southeastern port city of Chittagong Wednesday, but there were no reports of casualties or damage, officials said.

The eight-second tremor, measuring 3.05 on the Richter Scale, hit the quake-prone southeastern region Wednesday morning, the official BSS news agency said, quoting the Seismic Observatory Centre in Chittagong.

The epicentre was 62 kilometers (38.44 miles) from the centre of Chittagong.

Last September, some homes were damaged when a tremor measuring 5.77 on the Richter Scale hit the region which borders India and Myanmar.
