US sends condolences over death of Thai king's grandson
WASHINGTON (AFP) Dec 27, 2004
The United States on Monday sent condolences to King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, whose grandson was among the victims of the Asian tidal wave disaster.

"While the loss of any single life is precious, I would also like to take this opportunity to extend particular condolences for the tragic death of Poom Bhumi Jensen," US Secretary of State Colin Powell told a news conference.

Bhumi Jensen, 21, was killed by waves at the resort of Khao Lak in Phang Nga province on Sunday.

Two thousand people may have died in southern Thailand after the weekend's devastating tidal waves, according to Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

About 25,000 have perished in countries across the Indian Ocean.
