Quake shakes northeastern Aegean region
ATHENS (AFP) Nov 15, 2005
An earthquake measuring 4.6 points on the open-ended Richter scale shook the northeastern Aegean Sea early on Tuesday morning, the Athens Geodynamic Institute said.

The epicentre of the quake was between the Greek island of Lemnos and the Turkish island of Imroz (Imvros in Greek), some 300 kilometres (185 miles) northeast of Athens, institute seismologist Maria Kalligri told AFP.

No damage or injuries were reported in the wake of the tremor, which struck shortly before 8:00 am (0600 GMT) and was classified as 'weak', Kalligri said.

Greece is the most seismically active country in Europe, accounting for half of the continent's earthquakes.
