Mild quake rocks central Japan
TOKYO (AFP) Dec 24, 2005
A moderate earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale jolted central Japan Saturday but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage, officials said. There was no fear of tidal waves.

The quake occurred at 11:02 am (0202 GMT) with its epicentre near Nagoya, central Japan, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. Its focus was about 50 kilometers (30 miles) below surface.

It briefly suspended train runs in the area, including super-express services between Tokyo and Osaka, railway officials said.
