Ice rink roof collapses in Bavarian Alps, 50 people inside BAD REICHENHALL, Germany (AFP) Jan 02, 2006 The roof of an ice rink in a town in the Bavarian Alps collapsed under the weight of heavy snow Monday, with some 50 people inside, police said.
A police spokesman in the southern German town of Bad Reichenhall said it was unclear how many casualties there had been. The area around the rink was evacuated.
Rescue efforts were complicated by continued snowfall, following an overnight blizzard.
