Three More DMC Spacecraft Commence Pre-Launch Tests

an example of the type of EO capabilities of SSTL's DMC Earth Observation microsatellites
Surrey - Mar 28, 2003
Surrey Satellite Technologies hase completed Test Readiness Reviews on the next three DMC Earth Observation microsatellites (for Nigeria, Turkey and the UK) enabling them to proceed to EMC (Electro-Magnetic Compatibility) testing, now currently underway at ETL Semko UK's EMC laboratory.

These radiated emissions tests ensure that the spacecraft will not interfere with the launcher's telemetry and telecommand systems during the complex launch and deployment phases of the mission.

Customer representatives from Tubitak-Odtu Bilten in Turkey and National Space Research and Development Agency in Nigeria, attended the Test Readiness Reviews in order to appraise the missions and contractual progress.

All three spacecraft will be launched onboard a Kosmos launch vehicle from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in July 2003 to join the AlSAT-1 microsatellite currently operating in orbit and to complete the first international Disaster Monitoring Constellation (DMC).
