Companies and residential end-users in Czech Republic, located beyond the reach of ADSL, in suburban and rural areas can now get a two-way broadband satellite connection to the Internet, with download speed up to 400 kbps.
Tiscali already provides two-way satellite broadband connectivity services to consumers, SOHOs (Small Offices Home Offices) and SMEs (Small & Medium Enterprises) throughout most of Europe, as part of its Internet access portfolio. Tiscali two-way satellite Internet service also provides customers with the ability to download rich media, audio and video.
Yves Elsen, President and CEO, Satlynx said: "Satlynx is proud to give Tiscali the possibility to extend its Internet offer portfolio in another country. Use of existing Two-way satellite networks is ideal where terrestrial infrastructures are not present, since it can be implemented everywhere almost in real-time and at an affordable price."
Satlynx is a joint venture owned by SES GLOBAL and Gilat Satellite Networks based in Luxembourg. It is expected that the Alcatel subsidiaries Alcatel Space and SkyBridge will join soon as a third shareholder.
Satlynx has created an unrivalled portfolio of reliable and cost-effective two-way broadband service solutions for a wide range of applications all over Europe. Customers being served by Satlynx's network include La Poste (France), BT Openworld (UK), Tiscali (Italy) and Neo Sky (Spain) among others.
