Cane toad invasion threatens Pilbara biodiversity and culture

Curtin University researchers report that invasive cane toads are expected to reach the Pilbara region of Western Australia within ten to twenty years, posing major risks to native wildlife, cultural practices, and local economies. The study, published in Scientific Reports, forecasts that, without intervention, cane toads could colonize up to 75 percent of the Pilbara within thirty years.
