The Russian Federal Space Agency Roscosmos is positive about a recently advanced idea to send Olympic Flame to the International Space Station (ISS) and back to Earth as a part of the preparations for the 2014 Winter Olympics, Stats Secretary Vitaly Davydov said on Wednesday.

"Frankly speaking, we have not studied possibilities to deliver Olympic Flame to the ISS. This is a very specific issue; naked flame onboard the space station is prohibited for safety reasons," Davydov said, adding that if elaborated and technically sound project of delivery was worked out, Roscosmos would consider it.

Earlier, several media reported that one of the Russian firms related to the space industry, was thrashing out a project of delivery.

"The idea itself is very interesting and, in theory, could be implemented. But ways of its realization must be studied painstakingly," Davydov said.

In order such operation is held all of the ISS partners should give permission.
