Allentown PA (SPX) Apr 09, 2008 Akrion recently received another purchase order for an etch and clean system from an international manufacturer of advanced solar cells. Akrion has been able to leverage its vast experience in supplying process solutions for MEMS device production and applying it to the solar industry. Solar cell manufacturers seek to reduce the amount of silicon consumed in manufacturing steps to reduce production costs and enhance performance. Akrion's experience with advanced etch control and patented concentration control has been shown to be useful for this purpose. "I am very pleased to extend our advanced process capability and hardware to the production of leading edge solar cell manufacturing. Akrion believes the future of solar cell production is in reduced manufacturing costs and higher energy efficiencies and that our equipment will help manufacturers achieve those goals. Akrion is pleased to be a part of this movement toward developing renewable energy and conserving the earth's resources," said James S. Molinaro, Akrion president and CEO.
