Rochester - Feb 11, 2004 Performance Technologies, aleader in unified systems design for the communications, industrial and military markets, today announced that Andrew Corporation, is using Performance Technologies' Ipnexus switching, access and software products in its Geometrix Wireless Location System. Geometrix is installed in wireless networks to locate 911 callers. Geometrix is a state-of-the-art, network-based wireless caller location system compatible with CDMA, GSM, TDMA, 1xRTT and AMPS cellular and PCS networks and handsets. It is transparent to wireless subscribers, requires no changes in service, no modification or replacement of handsets, no new handset functions and no additional user instructions. Performance Technologies' Ipnexus CPC4406 Embedded Ethernet Switch, CPC388 and CPC396 network access products, and NexusWare communications software are included in the Geometrix system equipment. Large and small cellular and PCS carriers have installed Geometrix at approximately 13,000 cell sites, making it the most deployed system for locating wireless 911 callers. Performance Technologies' Ipnexus CPC4406 Ethernet switch offers a powerful embedded switching solution for equipment developers architecting high availability, carrier-grade packet-based products. Working in conjunction with the Ipnexus switches, the CPC388, CPC396 and NexusWare communications software are specifically engineered for applications such as Geometrix, which require the manipulation of large numbers of call connections. Together, these products helped launch a reliable, carrier-grade E911 product quickly and profitably. "Service platforms such as E911 systems are in great demand right now, and our Ipnexus products are ideal for these types of high availability applications," said Donald Turrell, president and CEO of Performance Technologies. "Andrew Corporation has an excellent reputation in this area, and having our equipment selected for Geometrix underscores the reputation of our products as well."
