Orange Africa and Middle East (OMEA) and Eutelsat (Paris:ETL) (LSE:ETL) have entered into a strategic alliance to enhance digital connectivity through satellite broadband services across Africa and the Middle East. This initiative is designed to connect remote regions, fostering greater digital inclusion.

Under this multi-year agreement, Orange will leverage the EUTELSAT KONNECT satellite to deliver high-speed, reliable internet access. The initial rollout will cover Jordan, Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with a long-term goal of expanding coverage across the entire region.

By integrating Orange's telecommunications expertise with Eutelsat's advanced satellite technology, the partnership will provide secure, high-performance connectivity to both individuals (B2C) and businesses (B2B). The combination of fixed, mobile, and satellite solutions will ensure the connection of underserved areas while addressing the growing demand for internet access.

Offering speeds of up to 100 Mbps, the collaboration will enable:

+ Coverage of remote and rural regions.

+ Tailored services suited to local conditions and user needs.

+ Secure and reliable connectivity in accordance with national regulations.

This initiative aligns with Orange's long-term vision of fostering digital progress across all its markets by leveraging cutting-edge technology while respecting local regulatory frameworks and enhancing regional ecosystems.

Jerome Henique, Managing Director of Orange Africa and Middle East, stated: "This partnership underscores our dedication to bridging the digital divide in Africa and the Middle East. With over 160 million customers in the region, Orange remains committed to making digital access available to all. Through our expertise and deep local presence, we aim to meet evolving consumer expectations while ensuring sustainable, regulation-compliant connectivity."

Michael Trabbia, CEO of Orange Wholesale, remarked: "This strategic alliance between Orange Group and Eutelsat Group builds on our longstanding collaboration. It aligns with our goal to provide premier satellite connectivity solutions, complementing our terrestrial networks. Orange Wholesale's satellite division possesses the expertise to execute this strategy across all Orange Group operations. Additionally, we provide satellite operators with essential terrestrial connectivity solutions, including teleports and long-distance fiber."

Cyril Dujardin, President of Eutelsat's Connectivity Business Unit, added: "Our satellite technology, including GEO capabilities, coupled with Orange's extensive regional presence, ensures connectivity where it is needed most. This partnership offers a reliable, affordable solution to accessibility challenges for both consumers and businesses."

Orange is already a key user of Eutelsat's KONNECT VHTS satellite, utilizing it to supply broadband services to its customers in France.
