SwedishAmerican Hospital Joins CIGNA HealthCare Managed Care Network

CIGNA HealthCare and SwedishAmerican Hospital announced today that they have signed an agreement to provide CIGNA HealthCare members and their covered dependents in-network access to Swedish American Hospital. Effective immediately, the agreement provides CIGNA managed care members in-network access to SwedishAmerican Hospital, a 357-bed, full-service, non-profit hospital serving the greater Rockford region, northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.

"CIGNA HealthCare is committed to providing our members with access to quality care and an expansive provider network," said Patrick Boughey, president and general manager of CIGNA HealthCare for Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

"The addition of SwedishAmerican Hospital to our network further underscores our commitment to quality care for businesses and their employees in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. We are pleased that our members can now access this leading institution for their health care needs."

Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine will soon be armed with a new, cutting-edge technological tool in the field of radiology - a 7 Tesla whole-body Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system. Penn's Department of Radiology will become the first in the Greater Philadelphia region to acquire one of these ultra high-field scanners. Only a handful of them are in operation elsewhere in the United States.
